A Little Leaven

Reflections

Grace does not mean tolerance. As New Testament Christians, we often misunderstand grace, sometimes taking it to an extreme. In an age of slogans like “Love wins” and “Be yourself,” we must be careful not to welcome sin under the guise of open-mindedness. We need the courage to take a firm stance against sin, especially among those who claim to be believers.

A little leaven leavens the whole lump. When we compromise on our stance, we send the message that sin is acceptable, and before long, it spreads, making people comfortable in disobedience. This truth is even more relevant in today’s global village, where a single individual can influence thousands—or even millions—almost instantly. Our silence, or even our fellowship with a believer living in unrepentant sin, does not just affect that person; it can lead many others into complacency about sin.

This reality should grieve us because it works against our mission of winning souls. It should also stir in us a deep sense of accountability toward our fellow believers. How are you reaching out to those who are struggling with sin?
