Glorification

〰️

Glorification 〰️

Reflections

We have seen how God has justified us by redeeming us from the power of sin and death, removing the divide between us and Himself, and reconciling us to Him. The ultimate purpose of all this is that we will spend eternity with Him. However, our mortal bodies are subject to weakness and will eventually decay, limiting our time in His presence. That is why God has destined us for transformation—to be conformed to His image. What this means is that one day, our bodies will be changed, free from sin and suffering, so that we can dwell with Him forever.

Paul assures us that this promise is certain because we have already received the first installment—the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is our guarantee, who helps us in the present to live a life no longer bound by sin. Even in times of suffering, the Holy Spirit strengthens us in our weakness. Sin has been, and continues to be, the root cause of all suffering in God’s creation. Left to ourselves, our struggles would surely overwhelm us. Yet, the Holy Spirit upholds us, teaching us what to pray for, stirring within us a desire to seek God and strengthening us against every discouragement. Through Him, we are assured of our final transformation and eternal union with God.
