Love Like Jesus 〰️
Reflections
How can we truly love like Jesus? Let’s look at some of His actions leading up to this commandment, as they provide insight into how we can emulate His love. Jesus loved His enemies—He served bread to His betrayer, as seen in John 13:26. He humbly served His disciples by washing their feet, making Himself of no reputation for their benefit. Jesus defended the oppressed, advocated for the accused, welcomed society’s rejects, and showed compassion by healing those in need. Most importantly, Jesus gave His life for us.
None of these actions were commonplace in His time, and even more so today, as society becomes increasingly self-centered. Loving like Jesus takes more than grand gestures, like Peter's desire to die for Jesus; it’s about the everyday acts of kindness and compassion. This is what sets us apart from unbelievers. We are called to be identifiable by our acts of love because we are called out—set apart, separated from the ordinary. As saints of God, our love should reflect His, showing the world the transformative power of Christ’s love in our lives.

Highlight
“If I then, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another’s feet. For I have given you an example, that you also should do just as I have done to you. A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another. By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.”” John 13:34-35 ESV
